Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim obtained BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), MSc in Construction Engineering & Management from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals Saudi Arabia, and PhD in Construction Project Management from Loughborough University, United Kingdom in 2007. He started his professional career with private practicing Quantity Surveying firms before taking up academic position at ABU. He rose through the ranks and was promoted to the coveted and enviable rank of Professor of Quantity Surveying/Construction Procurement Management in 2013. Professor Ibrahim is Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) and the Society of Construction Industry Arbitrators. He is registered with the Quantity Surveyors Registration of Nigeria (QSRBN) and he is also a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) UK, Association for Project Management (APM) UK, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and several others. He has severally served on accreditation teams of both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the QSRBN. Aside serving in numerous strategic professional committees of the NIQS such as the Truth and Reconciliation Committee, the Strategy and Planning Committee, National Policy Committee, Board Member of the Quantity Surveyors Academy, etc. Since 2011, he has been the Chairman of the Association of Quantity Surveying Lecturers/Educators.
Professor Ibrahim has taught several courses at undergraduate, postgraduate diploma, masters and doctoral levels at ABU and Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna. To date, he has supervised over 60 Masters Dissertations and over 25 PhD Theses in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management and Construction Project Management to successful completion. He has published over 180 academic publications on various aspects of Construction Cost Modelling and Procurement Management in highly rated international journals and presentations at international conferences. He has received several awards and research grants from local and international sources, and has made presentations at several continuous professional development workshops over the past two decades. He had also served as external examiner to more than fifteen institutions offering Quantity Surveying at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has severally served on accreditation teams of both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the QSRBN.
Professor Ibrahim has built an enviable administrative portfolio having served in various positions of authority at Departmental, Faculty, Management and Governing Council committees as Chairman/Member of committees. He had served as the Head of Quantity Surveying (2008-2012), Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Ahmadu Bello University Consultancy Services (ABUCONS) Ltd. (2010-2016) where numerous multi-billion naira worth of projects were executed, Director of University Advancement (2020-2021) and Supervisor of the Procurement Unit (2020 to date), amongst several positions, at ABU. Currently, he is the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of ABU (2021 to date). He is a member of Senate, Management, Tenders Board and Governing Council of ABU. He has been responsible for coordinating funds allocation, management, project initiation and procurement of numerous projects of diverse nature and from varied funding sources at ABU since 2010.
